What is a California Black Oak? Quercus kelloggii, to be exact. This North American species can be found in California and parts of Oregon and Nevada.
The California Black Oak is distinguishable by its glossy dark green leaves, which are smooth on the upper surface and velvety on the underside. The tree typically reaches heights of 50-70 feet, with a trunk diameter of 12-18 inches.
