The world is full of wonders and mysteries. Some are hidden in the depths of the ocean, others on top of mountains. One such place is Mount Fuji, a volcano that has been dormant for over 400 years but still stands tall as one of Japan's most iconic natural features with an elevation of 3776m (12389ft).
Mount Fuji was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013 because it offers an "exceptional example" of how humans interact with nature. It also provides access to unexplored territory which could contain evidence that will help us better understand our world's past civilizations. Mount Fuji has played important roles throughout Japanese history; it was worshiped by ancient people.
There are many ways to enjoy Mt. Fuji - hiking up her trails, appreciating the view at the summit, enjoying the sunrise or snowscapes at different times of year... you can even try climbing her if you are really adventurous!
